‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4 finale spoilers: Nina Dobrev, Candice Accola’s roles

Nina DobrevEarlier this month, we published some of the first details released from The CW about the upcoming “Vampire Diaries” season finale, and they really made one thing clear above all else: The dead will still be haunting Mystic Falls beyond the “Walking Dead”-titled episode the week before, and Matt and Rebekah are going to have an opportunity to join forces.

Now, the network has released a longer look at “Graduation,” and while this synopsis does contain some details from the original release, it also sheds some more light on motivation, along with the roles Candice Accola and Nina Dobrev are going to have in the story beyond just reaching the end of their high-school lives. Take a look below:

“On Graduation Day, Mystic Falls is overrun with ghosts intent on settling old scores and fulfilling their supernatural destinies. Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) life is in danger after a ghostly encounter, while Matt (Zach Roerig) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) join forces to battle a ghost determined to find the cure. As everyone gathers for the graduation ceremony and the ghosts converge, help comes from an unlikely hero. Caroline (Candice Accola) receives a touching and unexpected graduation present, and Bonnie’s (Kat Graham) plan leads to the closing of the veil. Elena (Nina Dobrev) makes a decision about the Salvatore brothers and faces an epic confrontation with Katherine (Nina Dobrev). Finally, Stefan (Paul Wesley) discovers a horrifying clue to the mystery surrounding Silas.”

If you follow logic and past hints from various actors and producers, it’s pretty clear that the cure is going to be used at some point before the end of the episode, but by whom? While we’re sure some folks out there are hoping to see it be Elena so that the love triangle is restored to normal, we’re almost hoping for a twist where someone else surprising takes it.

Who do you want to take the cure? If you want to see what some stars of “The Originals” are saying about their series getting picked up, be sure to visit the story here.
