‘Downton Abbey’ season 4: Watch Hugh Bonneville’s latest gig at Olivier Awards

GranthamAs we are writing this article, a celebration is beginning in London’s famed Covent Garden of some of the best in British theater: The Olivier Awards. While it is somewhat unfair to really compare one awards show overseas to one in America since there are subtle differences, the closest equivalent to this show in America would be the Tonys.

For fans of “Downton Abbey,” there is an even better reason to check out ITV at 10:15 p.m. local time tonight, as Hugh Bonneville is going to be one of the two people overseeing the whole event. He, like many other actors from the hit series, has an extensive background in theater, and thus has more of a vested interest than almost anyone in trying to ensure that it is properly preserved as an art form.

Bonneville is also very grateful at the moment for ITV and “Downton Abbey” to allow him even the opportunity to make this happen. After all, the actor has certainly had quite the jam-packed schedule as of late. He is currently deep into production of season 4 (which is the continued story of Robert, Mary, Cora, and others), and the production has also given him already a week in the schedule in order to film a small role for George Clooney’s upcoming feature film in Germany. In many ways, Bonneville is a perfect example to other “Downton Abbey” actors (or stars of any TV show, for that matter) that they do not necessarily have to leave their show in order to do other things. Rather, you can multitask away so long as you set your schedule up correctly.

If you want to read even more “Downton Abbey” notes connected to Sophie McShera and Michelle Dockery, just be sure to check out the article over at the link here. Hopefully, we’ll have some video footage of Bonneville’s job later in the day.
