‘The Walking Dead’ season 4 spoilers: ‘The Wire’ actor confirmed as role from comic

The Walking DeadEarlier this week, we first heard reports that another star from “The Wire” is joining Chad Coleman on the upcoming fourth season of “The Walking Dead,” and now, we’re hearing that it is indeed true. What is a little bit surprising is that the role that Larry Gilliard Jr. is playing is one that was a little bit different than what was previously suggested.

Sources confirm that the actor is going to be a series regular throughout season 4, and will take on the role of Bob Stookie, a medic with an extremely haunted past who prefers to spend time by himself rather than in a group. The code name for this role was “Roy Stark” throughout the casting process, and many out there believed that the role being cast was actually that of Abraham from the comics.

There are going to be some changes between the Bob from the Robert Kirkman comics to the TV show, but this should not come as much of a surprise to anyone at this point. After all, the show has made its M.O. on giving the series a slightly different twist, with Coleman’s Tyreese being a prime example. Plus, there are also some characters including the Dixon brothers and Milton that were never even in the comics at all.

Filming for “The Walking Dead” season 3 should kick off early next month, with the premiere happening at some point in October. What do you think about this casting news, and do you think that Bob is going to be an interesting character to add to the show’s mix?
