‘Game of Thrones’ season 3 spoilers: When worlds collide

If there is one criticism that casual fans out there could give against “Game of Thrones” as a series, it is that many of the storylines thus far have yet to really collide with one another in any sort of direct manner. We’ve seen Danaerys do her thing, for example, for two seasons, but never really interact with some of the other characters that are in Westeros. Meanwhile, Jon Snow has been in his own world since the first half of season 1, and Theon Greyjoy’s not getting much of an opportunity right now to see some of his old friends either.

However, we are pleased to report that at least two characters from different worlds are about to spend some time together. Who is it? According to a report from E! News, we are going to specifically see the red sorceress Melisandre spend some time with Gendry of all people. What does she want with him? We know that she will have some secrets to share, but we can’t imagine that this will equal good things for some people closely involved with these two characters’ lives.

Is Melisandre getting set to abandon the weak and defeated Stannis Baratheon, and is Gendry going to be taken away from Arya Stark? These are both good questions, and ones without answers for now for those viewers who are going into this show without any sort of predisposed knowledge of the George R.R. Martin books. Expect to see the ramifications of this meeting play out for at least a few of the episodes ahead.
