MTV’s ‘Awkward’ season 3, episode 3 review: Did Jenna and Matty talk it out?
Last week on “Awkward” season 3, we saw the beginnings of some drama already when it comes to Jenna’s relationship with Matty. Why? It made perfect sense when you think about it: She had kept from him that she suffered a pregnancy scare, but then went and told her ex in Jake about it. This was an extremely awkward situation without a doubt, since Matty now feels like he is out of the loop.
Of course, he started this episode by wanting to have a “talk” with Jenna all about it, and she used it as a defense mechanism trying to avoid being alone with him. She wouldn’t get in his car, and then she also made sure that he went on a double-date with Tamara and Jake in order to be in a neutral location.
Over the course of the evening, Jenna proceeded to make things way worse by spending most of the night continuing to avoid him, and also talking with Jake and sharing her “connection” with him. Eventually, Tamara had to call her out on it, and “the talk” came via an admission from Jenna that she was scared of being abandoned, and he was afraid that they weren’t going to have a deeper non-physical relationship. Was the problem solved? Just by finally agreeing to have this conversation, it seemed to be … for now. Things change fast in this universe.
Overall, this was another funny “Awkward” episode, in particular when it came to the hilarious “investigation” into Sadie, who we literally hope remains as terrible and awful as she was here for the rest of the series’ run. (The one sympathetic angle for her right now is that she is alone, and her parents have more or less flown the coop.)

I liked this episode. I just hope this isn’t foreshadowing and that Matty and Sadie don’t end up together in the end. I just love him and Jenna together. I don’t want to have to deal with another break up.
