ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5, episode 21 preview: Will Beckett ‘slip away’ from Castle?

Before we get into the first clip that we have below for Monday night’s new “Castle” season 5 episode, we may as well start things off by talking about some of the confusion that could inevitably be had courtesy of some episode titles here. After all, this upcoming episode is technically the 21st airing of the season, though its production number is 5×22. What happened? As you may recall, ABC switched up “The Squab and the Quail” with “Still,” the bomb-themed episode that was originally meant to air on Monday. This will now air a week from tomorrow out of respect for the victims in Boston.

So instead of a super-serious story that puts Beckett’s life in jeopardy nearly every second that she is on the screen, we instead have a story that puts her relationship with Castle into question. After all, we have a very rich man entering the picture who she is meant to protect, and this is going to send flares of jealousy flying off in every direction.

Does Castle really have a serious reason to be afraid? We don’t think so, mostly because we’ve yet to really see much of any indication at all that Beckett would do anything to betray his trust. Nonetheless, we expect for this to make a very entertaining episode, and hopefully one that shows to Castle that he need to give something more to Beckett in the long-term if their relationship is going to work.
