‘Mad Men’ season 6: Christina Hendricks looks (far) into the future
If you have listened or read some interviews over the years with “Mad Men” creator Matthew Weiner, then you probably know one thing already: season 7 at the moment is the likely end date for the show. This gives the writers enough time to come up with a fitting conclusion, but at the same time, it also does not stretch the series out further than it really needs to be. (No one wants to see a good show beaten to death.)
However, there is one actress at the moment who is making her hopes at seeing the show live on even longer rather clear. Speaking as a part of a new interview with Collider, Christina Hendricks explains that she would like to see a situation in which she is allowed to play Joan even longer than until 2014:
“Technically, that is what we all contractually, I think, have decided on … I am putting it out there into the world that I am hoping that Matt [Weiner, Man Men creator] changes his mind and decides he wants to write a couple more seasons because I would do it gladly and with bells on. So, I am putting it out there in the universe that we get more.”
Of course, the key word here is “contractually.” The last time there were contractual issues related to the show, we saw the season premiere delayed for months on end. We could see a season 8 happening if Weiner really wanted it and if everyone was willing to sign on, but one other factor may be that the ratings for the series have now seemingly leveled off.
What do you think: Should season 7 be the end for “Mad Men,” or would you be good with another season or two after that? If you want to see a fun new video featuring Jon Hamm in a place (in “Sesame Street”) where Don Draper would almost surely never go, be sure to click here.
