‘Mad Men’ season 6: Jon Hamm collaborates … with puppets?

Mad MenJon Hamm has definitely been seen around some interesting characters on “Mad Men” over the years, but right smack in the middle of season 6 airing, he’s spending some time with a character we never really saw coming: Elmo.

In the video below from “Sesame Street,” you can see a much more enthusiastic version of the actor working to explain the meaning of the world “sculpture” with the help of the famous Muppet, and for a few seconds, we were almost sure that this nearly killed Hamm more than Lucky Strike and Jaguar almost took down Don Draper. He struggled to hold up some of the sculptures as a part of the gag, and it was a nice little reminder that this is a guy with some pretty established comedy roots. After seeing him in such a brooding and serious role, it is wonderful to see him crack a smile here and there.

As we’ve said in numerous other “Sesame Street” articles over the years, the motivation for the show to include pop-culture references is rather simple: it helps to encourage parents to watch alongside with their children, which can facilitate learning. After all, “Downton Abbey” and “True Blood” have been spoofed on the show in the past, and countless celebrities over the years have also stopped by for “word of the day” videos with the characters.

What do you think about this video, and do you think it is super-cool for an established star like Hamm to take part in “Sesame Street”? If you want to also take a look at the next new “Mad Men” episode, be sure to visit the link here.

New episodes of the hit show air Sunday nights at 10:00 p.m. Eastern.
