‘Mad Men’ season 6, episode 4 preview: Does Pete Campbell fall apart?

PeteSunday night’s “Mad Men” was the literal manifestation of something that we’ve long waited to see: Trudy Campbell finally decide that she has had enough of one of the most awful husbands in human history and tell him to shove off. Pete is now completely on his own save for whatever women he manages to pick up next, but the question that we have moving forward is simple: is he going to tell anyone about it?

Of course, the new promo for this upcoming “To Have and to Hold” really does not give too much away at all, but it is rather clear that Pete is once again on edge. He’s lost that fallback for his confidence, and he now has to go through life without the knowledge that there is someone out there for him to routinely take advantage of.  He has always been a person who wants to be accepted, and this could be the most challenging plotline for him yet.

Meanwhile, it also appears as though this could be one of the first real opportunities we’ve had in some time to see what is happening with Joan, especially since it is starting to be clear that Herb from Jaguar is not exactly going to be leaving the firm alone now that he has gotten something that he wants from them. In some ways, you can read the comments that Don made about him last week to be about her just as much as about the campaign itself.

The official short synopsis of this episode is below:

“The partners try to keep a secret campaign under wraps, while Joan gets a visit from an old friend.”
