NBC to preempt ‘Revolution’ for Boston Marathon bombing coverage
There is some breaking news now coming out of NBC: the new episode of “Revolution” planned to air tonight has been pushed until next week, as the network is planning to air extensive coverage of the deadly and horrific bombing during the Boston Marathon today instead at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. As of this writing, CBS, ABC, and Fox are all still planning to continue forward with their normal Monday-night lineups.
This news could change at any time, so of course be sure to check back for more updates. The decision to preempt “Revolution” for the time being may also be content-based, as one of the key storylines unfolding right now on the show revolves around an explosive. These sort of tragedies are something you have to be aware of whenever you have a show that is of a violent or explosive nature.
News programs were extended earlier today for more coverage of the event, as President Obama has just spoken out about it while an investigation is ongoing. At least two people are confirmed dead, and dozens more are injured in what is currently being described as a terrorist attack.
All of our thoughts are with the people in Massachusetts right now going through this difficult time.
Update: CBS has confirmed that they are going to stick with their current programming on the schedule, while there is no confirmation yet from either of the other networks. However, be prepared for other possible interruptions, which could come during primetime depending on the latest breaking news from the New England area. The story will likely be covered more extensively during local news stations prior to the start of the late-night comedy shows.
