Renewal drama: New information on ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ ‘Nikita’s’ fate
For anyone who is a TV fan, the next two months have to be thought of as one of the greatest forms of torture out there. After all, there is a great deal of hearing information, getting excited, and then basically being told that you are going to have to do some more waiting in order to figure out what is really going on with some of the shows that you care about.
What is the latest example of this? Just look at what is currently going on with “Beauty and the Beast.” According to a new report from Deadline, there is an interesting new angle to the current state of the show that has not been brought up just yet, and could keep it safe for another year: the studio. This is the only series on The CW right now that is currently produced by CBS TV, and when you remember that this network is the child of the network along with Warner Bros., they would likely have one of their programs on the air a while longer. Sources claim that this helps the show secure a full-season order for season 2, but there is nothing yet confirmed at this point.
Meanwhile, the news on “Nikita” may not be as good to some of you out there. When we’ve written about the show’s renewal odds in the past, we’ve said that syndication all but assures that the show, despite low ratings, will get picked up for a full fourth season of 22 episodes, with the finale coming at the end of that. However, this new report suggests that executives are looking at a short renewal of somewhere between 6-13 to wrap up the show, similar to what the network did with “Gossip Girl.” This means that the series would not make the threshold for off-network syndication, but then again, have we been making too big of a deal out of this given that few people are going to want to syndicate a show that draws ratings this low?
In case you are wondering what sort of impact Hulu and streaming makes in keeping these shows alive, you can check out the story over at the link here.

BATB is definitely one of the best shows on CW. How could they not renew. With a great cast and Vincent and Cat are so good. It not only has romance but recently a lot of real drama. Please, Please keep this on.
