‘Girls’ season 3 spoilers: What guest star from the past is returning?

GirlsAt this point, you have probably already heard the bad news if you are a fan of HBO’s “Girls”: thanks to some creative differences on set, Christopher Abbott is no longer going to be a part of the show as Charlie. With that in mind, the road ahead for Marnie has become even more unclear than ever before. What’s Lena Dunham to do? First things first, she has to write Charlie out of the story in a way that guarantees that he will never return; then, she has to compose some sort of storyline for the character that makes sense to the journey that she is trying to tell.

One part of that journey? Making sure that Allison Williams’ character has someone interesting to talk to. According to a new report from E! News, Rita Wilson has been confirmed to be returning to the premium-cable series for another episode as the character’s mother, who first turned up in an appearance last year. It’s unclear just what sort of story she will be involved with, and that will likely remain a mystery given Dunham’s preference to have the vast bulk of her series remain a mystery until it airs.

However, this has to be exciting news for anyone enamored with the prospect of seeing a new chapter for Marnie, especially since many felt that her relationship with Charlie was boring and in stark contrast with some of the weirdness that she went through a little bit earlier on in season 2.
