‘CSI’ season 13 spoilers: ‘Hart of Dixie’ actor books finale arc

CBSWe’re getting closer to the season 13 finale of “CSI,” and it appears that the Las Vegas-set show is going to be venturing to a completely different world in some ways for the episode … at least when it comes to an actor whose characters spends the vast majority of his time in an Atlanta small town.

According to a brand-new report coming in from TVLine, Tim Matheson, best known at the moment for his part on The CW’s “Hart of Dixie,” has been cast to play a part in the episode as Mr. Tate, an extremely intelligent doctor (who in medicine and with a Ph.D) who becomes a suspect in a series of killings themed around “Dante’s Inferno.” Let’s stop for a minute and say that this already sounds way too much like “The Following,” and we don’t really know a lot in the way of details yet. These serial killer cases right now are hot for murder-mystery shows, mostly because the danger is there that they will kill again even after the original body is found.

It’s also worth noting that regardless of whether or not the case is solved in the finale, Matheson’s role will not be over yet. The actor will still appear in the season 14 premiere in the fall, which is really a great way to keep people hooked in a show that may not be pulling in too many new viewers anymore. After all, we have to be getting near the end soon, right? It’s possible that we could near the two-decade mark with “CSI,” but CBS also has a higher standard of ratings these days than CBS.
