‘Sons of Anarchy’: Katey Sagal lands ‘Glee’ role before start of season 6 production

GleeIt seems about time that we would be meeting someone in Artie Abrams’ family on “Glee,” but who knew that his mother was going to be someone so legendary in the world of TV?

In a new post on Twitter, showrunner Ryan Murphy confirmed that Katey Sagal is going to be joining the Fox series for at least one episode during the May sweeps, and should play a role similar to what we saw in many ways from Gloria Estefan on the show last year:

“So thrilled to announce my friend Katey Sagal is playing Artie’s mom on Glee. There is nothing this woman can’t do!”

What is particularly cool about this casting is that Kevin McHale specifically said at Comic-Con last summer that his dream casting would be to have the “Sons of Anarchy” star play his mother; he also said that he’d love to see Harry Connick Jr. play his dad, but there is no word on whether or not that will happen.

The “Glee” production schedule also lines up perfectly with what Sagal will be doing on the hit FX series; production on season 6 of “Sons of Anarchy” kicks off officially next month, and this gives her an opportunity to dip her toes into comedy (which is in many ways what she was first known for with “Married … With Children”) prior to her FX pilot project “Diva. Clown. Killer.” that stars her and is produced by her husband (and “SOA” creator) Kurt Sutter.

There are just give episodes of “Glee” left for the season, and within these hours we will see Artie prepare for his graduation, and also Rachel figure out her future in New York.

As for “Sons of Anarchy” season 6, the show will return in September, as it usually the case. If you want some scoop on some of the upcoming storylines, you can find it over at the link here.
