We recently learned who is going to be playing Alice on the potential “Once Upon a Time” spin-off series entitled “Once: Wonderland,” and we’ve also got some more scoop to go along with that in another character who is currently being cast.
According to a new report from E! News, the pilot (which is going to be filmed after the season 2 finale later this spring) is currently casting someone to play a doctor of a mental institution set in Victorian England. Does this mean that we are about to see an insane version of Alice? We really don’t know, especially since the story of this character is going to be rather interesting when it comes to the show. After all, in the original story she went from one world to Wonderland. Could she therefore start things off in the same sort of world as Dr. Frankenstein is from, only to later end up in the land of the Queen of Hearts and the Mad Hatter? It will be interesting to see.
As for whether or not this series will get picked up, it’s going to be a toss-up. The ratings for “Once Upon a Time” have dropped, and on this alone we would be skeptical. The one thing that could give the show (which could be the first of many spin-off installments similar to “American Horror Story”) a fighting chance is simply thanks to the fact that this is just a popular story that could lure in people who don’t even watch the flagship show.
