‘Mad Men’ season 6: Christina Hendricks’ Joan the star of latest promo

Just in case you were wondering how AMC was going to about promoting the new season of “Mad Men” without really bothering to show any footage of it at all, we now have an official answer for you: by focusing on specific characters, and then giving you some highlights of their recent run on the series.

While we can’t imagine that too many diehard fans of the Matthew Weiner series are really going to appreciate the latest video crafted to promote the April 7 premiere, it may be a pretty smart strategy by the promo department given the resources that have been given to them. The story of Christina Hendricks’ Joan is told about as well as it can be told over the course of just 30 seconds, with the story beginning with a conversation about who she is, and then showing her advancement through the company known as SCDP. It’s only fitting that the final scene comes when Don Draper realizes that Joan is now a partner, and she achieved the status by sleeping with a man in order to earn the firm an account.

So what could be coming up for Joan? It will certainly be interesting to see how she handles her new position. From one standpoint, we are sure that she will be rather thrilled to now have an opportunity to better prepare for her future thanks to some financial benefits; however, we have to believe that there will be some jealousy thanks to the fact that Joan literally slept her way to the top of the pecking order, while someone like Peggy had to work to extremes in order to get to where she is.
