‘Survivor Caramoan: Fans vs. Favorites’ preview: The Specialist splashes down
Without Brandon Hantz as a contestant on “Survivor Caramoan: Fans vs. Favorites,” you may as well rename this show “An Hour with the Specialist.” Phillip Sheppard dominated the airtime during this week’s episode, and based on what we are seeing already for next week in the promo below, it looks very much like we are going to be seeing more of the same.
So what is going happen here? Basically, the show is not even pretending anymore that Phillip’s Bikal tribe really has any chance whatsoever of winning any future challenges, and they instead are promoting Phillip bragging about his upper body skills, and then completely wiping out in the water during a challenge that we have seen on the show many times before. It is a personal favorite, though, since it is really a testament more than any other of just how badly someone wants to win the game. It’s simple but effective, but works so much better in places where you can have proper water challenges.
In a sense, we feel somewhat bad for Phillip in that he’s probably still gassed from his tribe make him running the last challenge three times. While he may not be the legendary athlete that he proclaims himself to be, he is in pretty great shape for the oldest man still in the game. He just can’t expect to hang with someone like Malcolm or Reynold, and he’s having to on a tribe that contains Cochran.
In speaking of Malcolm, the promo also teases a very cocky Malcolm proclaiming that he is going to take over the game in a few days with an alliance seemingly constructed of just bros. Could this be this show’s version of The Brigade? What Malcolm has going for him is that he and Reynold have immunity idols (though they haven’t shared this yet), but they are all going to be massive physical targets once the merge happens.
