‘Necessary Roughness’ season 3 spoilers: ‘Once Upon a Time’ favorite cast

Necessary RoughnessAre we going to be seeing much more of Dr. Whale on “Once Upon a Time” season 2? Based on the casting information that was just made available, it at least seems as though David Anders is suddenly going to be a much busier guy.

Sources have confirmed that the actor, whose other recent guest-starring credits include “The Vampire Diaries” as Uncle John and a villain on “Arrow,” is set to appear in all 10 episodes of USA’s “Necessary Roughness” this coming season as Troy Cutler, the right-hand man of John Stamos’ character of Connor, the head of the nation’s premiere sports agency that is looking to possibly lure Dr. Dani away from the New York Hawks.

Of course, it wouldn’t be an Anders character without there being some layer of darkness there. Cutler is going to get his kicks by running some shady operations inside of the company, and this is something that Dani is surely not going to be happy with. This is not necessary a signal that the character is evil; like Dr. Whale, he may just be a little misguided when it comes to finding his way in the world.

With these two castings, USA is making it pretty clear that they are swinging for the fences with this season of the show. As for whether or not it will work, that remains to be seen; the third season is a short one, but if some of these guest stars are able to drive more attention to the show, we would not be surprised to see a fourth down the road.
