‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4: Ian Somerhalder jokes about Silas casting
When asked about the rumors recently regarding the role in a chat with Entertainment Weekly, Ian Somerhalder started the comment off by stating what is likely to happen, and then ended up taking the humorous route in giving a casting “suggestion” of a guy who could use some more time on TV these days:
“I mean it’s The Vampire Diaries, so he’s probably young. But we could flip it a little bit. So, I’m thinking… Didn’t Regis [Philbin] retire? He could come back. He’s not crotchety, he’s awesome. I’m gonna talk to [CW president] Mark Pedowitz and [Warner Bros. TV president] Peter Roth about that.”
If there is someone set to play the Silas part, they will likely have to be cast any minute now given how close we are to the end of the season, especially in the filming process. It is certainly also possible that this reveal could be saved for the start of next season, when many of the Originals are out of town and it gives the likes of Damon, Elena, and the rest of the gang to have a new common enemy with thousands of years of history behind him.
