‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9, episode 17 preview: Jackson flexes his muscles

Jesse WilliamsWho knew that Jackson Avery would become such a commanding presence at Seattle Grace so soon? We sure didn’t, but we definitely see that out of him in the latest video preview for Thursday night’s “Grey’s Anatomy” episode. There are really two ways that he could have taken the sudden promotion brought on by his mother Catherine: he could have either cowered in fear of it and how some of the other doctors would treat him, or he could be assertive and try to find a way to make his presence felt. Luckily, he’s choosing the latter.

But is everyone else going to be particularly happy with this change? Not exactly. As a matter of fact, we can tell in the sneak peek below that Alex is particularly unhappy at the thought of being bossed around by someone that he does not consider to be above him in any way. However, what can he really do about it? The hospital is extremely understaffed at the moment thanks to all of the cuts that have been made, and someone has to make the judgment as to which patient gets their transplant quickly, and which has to wait.

Meanwhile, at least some of the other doctors seems to be respecting his authority a little bit more. Callie and Cristina, if nothing else, are putting up with it … even if we’re sure that it feels a little awkward for the two of them to be receiving some sort of orders from a doctor who really has only been attending since the end of last season.
