‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8 spoilers: Barney’s dilemma; The Captain returns

Just in case you weren’t happy with the amount of the Captain that we saw on “How I Met Your Mother” earlier this season, there is some good news: the character is coming back.

So what will Kyle MacLachlan be up to now? Based on the official description for the show’s next new episode “The Fortress” (which is set to air a week from Monday), it is starting to look more and more like the character is going to be driving Lily up the wall. In addition to that, Barney is going to be pushed into doing something that he never previously was interested in doing: selling the famous bachelor pad that has played host to more romantic exploits than we can really even fathom to count:

“As their wedding date approaches, Robin tells Barney that it’s time they address the issue of where they will live as a married couple. She makes it clear that she will never live in his apartment – where all of his sexual escapades took place. Barney begrudgingly agrees, but insists that the apartment go to somebody worthy of its greatness. Meanwhile, Marshall takes drastic measures when he can no longer deal with Lily’s constant absences due to her demanding job with the Captain.”

So who are the top candidates to take over Barney’s pad? While Ted is the most obvious one given that he is single, we really don’t see there being much of an incentive for him at all to move there when he has a pretty relaxing place of his own already.
