‘Dancing with the Stars 16’ spotlight: Andy Dick and Sharna Burgess

Andy DickFollowing our spotlight of Disney Channel star Zendaya, we are back today with yet another look at a “Dancing with the Stars” season 16 contestant … and this one really could be any more different if they tried. Andy Dick is probably the most controversial addition to the cast thanks to his problems away from his day job, and he is someone that we are sure will generate plenty of press in the weeks leading up to the start of the show.

For those unfamiliar with some of Andy’s performing history, he is probably best known for his roles on “NewsRadio” as well as “Less Than Perfect,” though he also has some sketch comedy history in there with “The Ben Stiller Show” along with a sketch series of his own rat ran for just under twenty episodes back over a decade ago. The man has a talent for making people laugh, so let’s hope that the chuckles that will be coming his way on the show are intentional.

Partner – Sharna Burgess. this is Sharna’s first chance to be a full-time pro, and you give her this wild card? Sharna at least is familiar with the show as a member of the troupe for the past couple of seasons, but she is a wild card when it comes to personality as well as her teaching methods.

Strengths – Andy’s an actor first and foremost, so let’s hope that he will be able to entertain first and foremost while out on the floor. He’s probably one of the more well-known stars among the viewers who are diehard TV fans, and this alone could mean that he has an audience that carries him for a few weeks.

Weaknesses – Sadly, this is probably where the good news for Andy ends. We don’t have any sort of hope that he is a very good dancer, as he is the second-oldest man on the season and also is not really accustomed to doing anything this physical. We also don’t know how many fans are really still behind him given some of his public struggles. If given a chance, he could make a heck of a redemption story, but we’re not sure that he will have that opportunity if he struggles the first week.

Prediction – The best comparison we have for Andy right now is probably somewhere between Adam Carolla and David Hasselhoff. He’ll make us laugh, try his best to dance, and will probably be eliminated at some point within the first few weeks.
