‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2 spoilers: Jennifer Morrison talks danger for Henry

HenryWhile the characters on “Once Upon a Time” are constantly getting threatened in one way or another, one of the characters who is surprisingly in the most dangerous position at the moment is none other than Emma Swan’s own son. Why? Not only is Rumpelstiltskin watching carefully over the boy thanks to a warning from a seer that he will someday destroy him, but no one else knows that the child is in any danger at all. As a matter of fact, most everyone would simply think that Gold would be rather overjoyed to have a grandson in his life.

This is a subject that Jennifer Morrison talked about in a new interview with TVLine, and she teased that this was going to be one of the larger moral struggles that Robert Carlyle’s character faces in the episodes ahead. We know that there is a capacity within him to do good, but at the same time he is hardly going to be motivated to do anything for someone else when his life is on the line:

“There’s now this looming threat, basically, on Henry’s life that no one’s aware of, and it’s something I think they’re setting up to pay off over time. It’s also interesting because the Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold character has really evolved — we’ve gotten to see two very different sides of this man, even in the Storybrooke world. He does have this love for Belle and he does have capacity to be good, and yet he’s also got this capacity to be darker than anyone else. He’s also made true on his deals with Emma, so oftentimes Emma does end up aligning with him, knowing it’s like ‘the devil you know or the devil you don’t.’ With him, there’s a certain, almost bizarre ‘code of ethics’ to his evil.”

Don’t expect Rumple to necessarily make a move quickly against the boy, though: he is a calculating person at times, and he obviously has now problem working slowly to execute his plans properly. Taking Henry down while he is a child in New York City would obviously not be the ideal situation, and we personally would like to see whether or not the character finds a way to keep some of his humanity intact.

When do you think we will see Rumple strike, if ever? You can get a better sense of just what the character’s relationship with Emma is going to be moving forward by heading on over to the link here.
