‘CSI’ alum Marg Helgenberger returns to CBS, joins ‘Lost’s’ Josh Holloway

CBSAre you ready for Marg Helgenberger back on your television set in a full-time capacity? A year after saying goodbye to “CSI” as its longest-tenured cast member, the actress is now getting set to dive back into the TV world very soon.

Sources are confirming that Helgenberger has officially signed on to “Intelligence,” which is the much-anticipated pilot over on CBS that is about a division of the United States government with a secret weapon: a man with a specialty chip inside of his brain that basically gives him unique abilities. While we already know that “Lost” alum Josh Holloway is set to play this very character, Helgenberger will be taking on the head of the division.

This sounds like a pilot that would work well alongside one of the network’s other hits in “Person of Interest,” and with that in mind, it is easy to be excited about the possibilities here. On the flip side, however, the show also seems like a more serious version of “Chuck,” and the lack of originality in the premise alone is trouble in the same way that “The Mentalist” was a modified version of “Psych” back in the day.

If this pilot gets picked up, some possible spots for it could include Tuesdays at 10:00 p.m. Eastern, the aforementioned post-“Person of Interest” spot if “Elementary” is moved to another night (it would seem to be a better fit on Tuesdays), or at some point on Friday. CBS seemingly has fewer spots open than any other broadcast network thanks mostly to their own constant success.
