Conan O’Brien plays ‘Tomb Raider,’ is hilariously awful at it (video)

ConanTypically, watching someone play video games on TV is akin to watching paint dry; single-player games are called “single-player games” for a reason, and unless you have a pretty awesome sense of humor or an infectious personality, it’s not going to be easy to really sell people on having a good time watching you do something that they would rather be doing themselves.

However, there are exceptions to every rule, and Conan O’Brien is living proof that watching someone game can be more than just funny; it can be hysterical. In the latest edition of his “Clueless Gamer” season, the TBS host tries his hand at playing the well-reviewed Tomb Raider revival from Square Enix, and what happens as a result is a comedian (one who claims that he does not even enjoy video games) repeatedly impaling Lara Croft while talking about why the game forces you to creep out on her.

What is probably the most impressive thing about this video is not Conan’s gaming skills (mostly because these are terrible), but rather just how quick and witty he is to respond to things that happen during the game … including failing at it multiple times. We don’t want to say too much here in lieu of actually ruining the video, but if you love all things “Conan” and also are just as avid of a gamer as we are, this has to be considered a must-watch and one of the best videos of the week.

Check out new episodes of “Conan” weeknights on TBS, and be sure to as always share some of your thoughts on this story below! As for “Tomb Raider,” the game (which features “Grey’s Anatomy” star Camilla Luddington in the role of Lara) is currently in stores across the country.
