‘Supernatural’ season 9 spoilers: Misha Collins upped to series regular
After not really having much to say when it comes to Misha Collins on “Supernatural” for several weeks, we are finding out quite a bit of good news all at one time.
First, we reported some scoop on what could happen with the tablets via series star Jared Padalecki, and now, Zap2It’s Carina MacKenzie is reporting that Collins has been officially upgraded to a series regular for “Supernatural” season 9. This is not necessarily a guarantee that he will appear in every episode, but you can probably bet on him being in at least half of them. It also guarantees that “Supernatural” basically has the ability to lock in him in case some other projects come up that could pose scheduling conflicts.
This is not the first time that Collins has been named a series regular for the show, as he only made a few guest appearances throughout the show’s controversial seventh season. He maintained a devoted following even in his time away from the show, and we probably get more requests for Castiel scoop than any other character on a network TV show. One of the reasons for this promotion may be the show’s higher ratings following “Arrow” on Wednesday nights, which could mean a larger budget.
MacKenzie also reports that Collins will direct an episode, which should be interesting to see from the standpoint of his vision. Collins, at least per our research, has never directed any episodic TV before now.
How thrilled are you to hear this news, and what sort of stories do you want to see for Castiel moving forward on “Supernatural” now? If you want to view even more news pertaining to the show, you can do so over at the link here.

I’m very happy to have Castiel back as a regular cast member. I love Sam & Dean, but a little variety never hurt anything. Spice of life and all that. I think what makes the most sense is turning Cas full on human…but that poses some problems. An angel is their grace, and he would have to lose that. So, would he be like Sam without a soul? Is Jimmy’s soul still in there to compete with? Did Chuck stop being a first rate A-hole and when he brought Cas back in S7 molded his grace into something like a human soul and let Jimmy go? Cause I have a feeling angels can only posess a body with a human soul to power it–otherwise, why the big fuss with getting consent if they could animate a dead body like a demon? Something I’m sure the writers have never actually considered, so it’s all pointless speculation. Regardless, more Cas and more Misha is always good.

To avoid the Deus Ex Machina problem they’ve had with Cas so far, along with Jared’s hinting about closing the gates of heaven, it seems likely that Cas will fall and become human. That would also explain how he can be in more episodes next season…
Wishful thinking?

I’m very optimistic to see what Supernatural’s ninth season will come to hold as for the direction that they are planing for the character Castiel. Although I’m excited for Cas to be coming back and even better, as a regular, I know that they probibly won’t keep him a regular for to long. I think this because as an angel he has so much power that they will have to make him either be killed again or perhaps continue on with the whole idea of Naomi ,another angel , sort of mind controlling him, making Cas have some kind of a weakness.

I’m curious to see where the angel tablets could take us. Maybe God wants humanity to be free so he made the Heaven, Hell, and Leviathan tablet. If Sam closes Hell’s Gates since he was supposed to be Lucifer’s vessel and Dean closes Heaven because he was supposed to be Michael’s vessel I can see a lot of tears from the fans. All the Destiel shippers will be in a dither. Dean may have to lock his buddy Cas away in heaven forever.
