‘Veep’ season 2 spoilers: Check out Julia Louis-Dreyfus in new trailer

VeepOn Sunday, April 14, “Veep” will return to HBO with all-new episodes, and with that in mind, we finally have the first extended teaser for Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ big return to TV.

The bad news here is simple and straight out of the gate: there’s no real footage here. Instead, what we have is the same sort of running gag that was there for most of the first season: at the end of the day, the Vice-President does not matter, and is really just around to serve as a figurehead who takes on pet projects that the man in charge does not want to deal with. (Take, for example, obesity.) This clip does do a good job of pointing out the absurdity of some of the people who work on the Veep’s office, along with Jonah, the only real person on the show who frequently mentions communicating with the President.

What will be interesting about this season is seeing just how many issues from the past year, whether it be the Presidential Election, the economy, or the movement that has been made when it comes to same-sex marriage or even the legalization of certain drugs. We like to compare this show in some ways to “The Newsroom,” which also tackles semi-current issues and looks at certain issues through a critical eye (even if “Veep” is far more comedic).

What do you think about this trailer, and does it make you more excited for season 2 even without bringing anything new to the table at all? Be sure to share some more of your thoughts with a comment below, and you can check out a shorter clip for the season by heading on over to the link here.
