ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 2 spoilers: Scott Foley talks Jake, Olivia’s relationship

So what exactly is going on with Scott Foley’s character of Jake on “Scandal” season 2? When he first appeared and started to express his interest in Olivia Pope, it was a nice moment to some extent considering that she and Fitz had been through some terrible things … but there were plenty of other questions to go along with it. For one, why in the world did he show up so quickly, and is he really interested in her for the right reasons?

Foley actually signed up for this thanks mostly on the good-faith relationship that he has with executive producer Shonda Rhimes, but now that he knows a little bit more about Jake’s motivations, he told TVLine the following in a new interview about some other sort of plans he may have for her:

“Even though he’s watching her, I can tell you that someone has hired him to keep an eye on her and find out more about her. He’s not doing this of his own volition. But I think he’s crossing some lines by acting out and getting away from the monitors and bumping into her on purpose and meeting her one-on-one. I think he’s become very taken with her, in kind of like a stalkerish way. He was watching her and really liked something about her so he took it upon himself to step outside of those monitors and meet her in real-life. So i think that is probably taboo in terms of the professional side. I’m sure whoever hired him has no interest in him doing that, but he’s drawn to her.”

One thing we can definitely say about Foley? Don’t expect him to go anywhere in the immediate future. The character is set to play a  major role in everything coming up this season, so only expect him to get more involved in Olivia’s life.
