‘Mad Men’ actress cast in CW pilot from ‘Vampire Diaries’ producer
In between “The Vampire Diaries,” “The Originals,” and “Tomorrow People,” Julie Plec may end up being a very busy woman if all three series end up being on The CW’s schedule for the fall. At the moment, two of them seem to be just about as close to locks as locks can be. As for “Tomorrow People,” meanwhile, this is the question mark still floating around out there.
We do have some new casting scoop to share for the product, and it features someone who certainly has a rather star-studded pedigree. According to a report from Deadline, “Mad Men” alum Peyton List has signed on for the series, where she will be taking on the role of Cara. She is one of many young people around the world who comes together in order to fight evil as soon as she realizes that she is in possession of special powers.
Rather than being an adaptation of “Heroes” or “The 4400” (which are very similar shows on premise alone), “Tomorrow People” is actually remake of a 1970s British TV series. Plec is producing along with Greg Berlanti (“Arrow”) and Phil Klemmer (“Chuck”). Where will the series fit in if it gets picked up? The obvious answer would be either after “Arrow” or “Nikita” on the schedule, but the network could have a pretty crowded schedule for the fall. “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Carrie Diaries,” “90210,” and “Hart of Dixie” are all toss-ups for renewal, and with a pickup for “The Originals” likely, some of this show’s biggest competition could come from “The Selection,” a show with some serious similarities to “The Hunger Games.”
