‘The X Factor’ USA notes: Tate Stevens’ music video; Fifth Harmony’s reunion

Tate StevensIt’s Grammy day, and with that it only seems appropriate to start things off on our “X Factor” USA notes with the music video for Tate Stevens’ debut single “Holler If You’re With Me,” which is also going to double as a Pepsi commercial for the big game when it airs on CBS.

So yes, it’s hard to argue the fact that this is a very commercial-oriented, as it features countless Pepsi bottles all over the place, even though Tate is singing about such things as Red solo cups, which are only rarely filled with Pepsi. If you love country music, this is regardless going to be the sort of video you celebrate. It’s very traditional, as it features a rocking band, a giant party, plenty of trucks, and lyrics that follow the “how to have a hit country song” guide perfectly. For his first music video it was a smart idea for Tate not to reinvent the wheel; he needs to win over these fans first, and then he will have an opportunity for a little bit more creative artistry with some of his videos coming out later.

Fifth Harmony reunion news! – Anyone who loves Lauren, Ally, Camilla, Dinah Jane, and Normani has been likely awaiting the following news all year: Fifth Harmony is coming back together! The group confirmed online this weekend that they will be reuniting on Tuesday after spending some time at home with their families, and given that they recently signed a record deal with Epic Records and Syco, we have to assume that getting started on their debut album will be a priority.

Based on some of what we are hearing, the group will begin the process of getting some songs together this month in Los Angeles, with the disc coming out later this year barring any unforeseen interruptions. L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell both are smart enough to realize that these ladies need to get their music out as soon as possible, and next season would be a perfect platform to help launch some new music.

Excited? We definitely are.
