We’ve already shared the news that Daniella Pineda is going to be playing one of the witches on the upcoming backdoor pilot for the “Vampire Diaries” spin-off entitled “The Originals,” and based on the latest casting information that is coming in, the producers behind the CW series is looking like they may really need to memorize some first names rather quickly to avoid getting themselves rather confused.
Sources have confirmed that former “Prison Break” actress Danielle Campbell has landed the role of Davina, the young, determined witch on the show that has lived a very sheltered life thanks in part to the use of spells being more or less outlawed by the supernatural powers-that-be in New Orleans. (Pineda is playing the other witch, named Sophie.)
Based on what we’ve heard thus far, the ringleader of the vampire community in the Big Easy is an old chum of Klaus’ named Marcel, who is going to be played by Charles Michael Davis. It is still relatively unclear as to what the circumstances will be that bring Klaus back to this town, both he and Daniel Gillies (Elijah) are expected to be two of the leads on the project. Phoebe Tonkin is also expected to return as Hayley, and the only major character still yet to be cast is Camille, a college student at Tulane who has no knowledge of the world of vampires, werewolves, and witches that exists within mere yards of herself.
This pilot will air as a special during “The Vampire Diaries” on April 25, and fan reaction along with the opinion of the network executives will probably help to determine whether or not “The Originals” is ultimately picked up for more.
