ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5 spoilers: How Castle, Esposito try to one-up each other

Valentine’s Day is a holiday that is about romance, but it is also a day that is in particular very much about pressure. You want to make sure that whatever you pull off for your significant other is at least just as good as what they are pulling off for you; and in addition to that, you also want to ensure that none of your friends do anything that is a million times better than you, that way you do not run the risk of paling in comparison when your other half hears about what they did.

With this in mind, it looks like we could be in for a rather entertaining February 14 with “Castle” on Monday night. In addition to a fun “Real Housewives”-inspired story that will feature a “Firefly” reunion with Nathan Fillion and Gina Torres, Jon Huertas teases in a new interview with TV Guide that we are going to be seeing Castle become rather desperate to compare what he is doing to Esposito’s own plans:

“If [Esposito] has plans, he’s keeping them very secretive … Castle’s investigating Javier’s plans and constantly nagging him about… who he’s hanging out with. [He’s] trying to see if my plans are not as good as his, not as romantic.”

We know that Rick is going to try to do something very sweet for Beckett as their Christmas ended up not exactly going according to plan, and this will be yet another fun moment worth looking forward to with an episode that we can really best describe right now as a calm before an emotional storm.
