‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4 spoilers: News on Caroline and Tyler

It may not seem like they have been very much of a focus on “The Vampire Diaries” thus far in 2013, but there is ultimately no reason to fret: Caroline and Tyler are not only going to be back for Thursday night’s new episode “Into the Wild,” but they will have a role that could be very important to the show going forward.

According to a new report from TV Guide, this episode is going to find Candice Accola’s character in particular in more danger than she has perhaps been in over the course of the show’s run; and with that in mind, she has to be considered to be one of the characters at risk of losing her life moving forward. There is an enormous death coming up on the show in the next two months, and it is someone who could potentially be on par or even greater than seeing both Jenna and Alaric bite the dust.

The reason why the Caroline / Tyler relationship has occasionally taken a back seat on the show is at least understandable in some ways, as we know that the characters have a reason to fight side by side now (and thus there is a little less drama). Meanwhile, there is a massive heap of drama surrounding the vampire cure, especially with so many characters traveling to an island (something Ian Somerhalder knows quite a bit about from his days on “Lost”) trying to find it and then figure out what to do with it.
