‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9, episode 12 preview: The cost-cutting begins

Kevin McKiddWhen the hospital you help oversee suddenly owes an insurmountable sum as a result of a lawsuit and a bad insurance plan, you suddenly find yourself with your back against the wall. With this in mind, we have a feeling that Dr. Owen Hunt probably wishes he was getting a little bit more support from some of his fellow Seattle Grace doctors (many of who are set to cash in from the settlement) when it comes to the latest plan he is putting into action.

On Thursday night’s “Grey’s Anatomy” season 9 episode, Owen is going to do his best to try and make something work here financially for the hospital by bringing a consultant (Constance Zimmer) who will help to ensure that everything at the hospital is running smoothly and efficiently. It’s almost as though she is an accountant and a surgeon at the same time, and few other doctors are taking warmly to the idea of someone following them around and telling them what to do.

Then again, we’re also not clear if Owen has actually explained to Cristina or some of the other physicians just how dire the situation is. If this woman is not successful in getting the cost of running the hospital down, Seattle Grace could close its doors, and then no one will be making any money at all. Plus, we have a feeling that a few of these doctors will be seriously regretting their decisions to stay on staff here after they were offered other opportunities at the end of season 8.

There will be some other struggles that happen during this episode, as well; if you want to read even more on that, just be sure to check out a sneak peek featuring Meredith and Derek by heading on over to the link here.
