‘Supernatural’ season 8, episode 11 preview: First video of Felicia Day

Felicia DayWe know that there is some criticism out there about “Supernatural” having too many filler episodes at the moment; but when one of these filler episodes feature Felicia Day in a prominent role, is there really that big of a reason to complain?

We have probably not been so excited for an episode of this show (in “LARP and the Real Girl”) since the cartoon-themed whodunit that aired in the fall, mostly because this sounds like one of the most delightfully-goofy hours of TV that the show has put out there. You have swords, shields, and Dean trying to pass himself off as a knight. Plus, there are still going to be some monsters worth fighting, and we have a feeling that none of these LARPers are really going to know what to do with themselves.

What we personally love about the concept here is that LARPing is something that has not really been explored on TV since season 4 of “Beauty and the Geek,” and its only proper cinematic treatment of late came at the end of “Role Models.” Plus, there is no better actress to take on a part in this than Day given her own part in “The Guild,” a show that is very connected to this world (even if we are talking about an online role-playing in game in this sense).

Just in case LARPing is not your thing, there is still some other great stuff coming up, including an episode to feature Nazi necromancers and one about a man who is in love with his dog in human form. (Only “Supernatural” can come up with this stuff and have it be awesome.)

If you want to go back and read our review for Wednesday night’s episode, you can do so here.
