There is perfect casting news, and then there is casting news that is so perfect that it is hard to even put into words. If you consider just how similar “Awkward” is in many ways to a number of classic movies of the 1980s, then you will be thrilled to know that a former star of “The Breakfast Club” is going to be gracing its halls very soon.
According to sources, Anthony Michael Hall is going to be making an appearance soon as a creative writing student who is very effective when it comes to getting under the skin of some of the show’s characters … and most likely one of them happens to be Jenna Hamilton. While it’s unclear just how great of a role he will have in the primary story, we should point out that he will somehow influence what happens with some of these students just based on his teaching style alone.
As for some other new casting additions, actor Nolan Funk, who you probably know best for his recent role as Warblers leader Hunter on “Glee,” has also been cast to play the role of a rather attractive new transfer student. Could he be the guy who distracts Jenna from her boyfriend-yet-again Matty? This was a storyline that has been hinted about over the past few weeks, and we have not heard a formal casting announcement about it just yet.
“Awkward” season 3 will premiere later this year with an extended episode order, meaning that it is likely we will see more of Jenna both in the summer and the winter moving forward.
