On Sunday night, “Downton Abbey” season 3 is finally going to be launching in America, which means that those of you who have been waiting patiently for some time now will have an opportunity to see just all of the fuss is really about (that is, if you have not figured it out already). We’ll start things out here with a warning: the following contains minor spoilers, so read on at your own risk.
The fact that so much of the season is already spoiled thanks to the UK airings also makes one part of the show’s promotional strategy a little bit different, largely when it comes to talking with someone in Dan Stevens who has already been confirmed overseas to be leaving the show. He is still shying away from broaching the subject, as he does in a new interview with Parade Magazine when he answers a question about his future on the show with the following:
“I could tell you, but then I’d have to have Mrs. Patmore cook you…”
As frustrating as it may be, we have a feeling that a good many media outlets out there may be merely appreciating the fact that Stevens is even talking about the show, given that it is not something that he necessarily has to do, and from some vantage points it would be just as easy for him to stay quiet and allow the backlash on his departure to die over; and while this could take a little while, we have a feeling that it would die down eventually.
What do you think about Stevens choosing to shy away from talking about his future in America? If you want to see what Hugh Bonneville is saying now when it comes to possibilities for “Downton Abbey” season 4, all you have to do is visit the story over at the link here.
