‘The X Factor’ USA: Tate Stevens performs ‘Bonfire’ on Fox’s New Year’s Eve show

Tate StevensFox’s New Year’s Eve show was a rather strange beast, and the best way that we can really describe it is a show without much of an audience. You had performances by Lifehouse, a host who was loud, obnoxious, and at times grating, and then you also had women parading around in skimpy clothing that did not go musically at all with some of the acts scheduled to perform.

Originally, “X Factor” USA champ Tate Stevens was not scheduled to even be performing, but he was handed a last-minute opportunity to hit the stage thanks largely to the fact that “American Idol” champ Phillip Phillips had to drop out due to scheduling. Of course, the bad news for Tate is that this performance happened such a short time after he hit the stage on Simon Cowell’s talent show that he really did not have any opportunity at all to really prepare any sort of original performance. Instead, he performed a track in “Bonfire” that he rocked out during the final weeks of the competition.

In his first major performance away from the show since the victory, we have to say that he did a really great job. As a matter of fact, it seems almost that the tiny “X Factor” stage and the judges kept him from being as entertaining a performer as he could be. Tate sounded great, worked the audience well, and this felt more like a genuine concert performance. So long as he gets more opportunities like this, we have a feeling that he is going to be doing rather well moving forward.

What do you think about Tate’s performance on the show? If you want to check out some more “X Factor” scoop pertaining to Carly Rose Sonenclar and Britney Spears, be sure to head over to the link here. We’ll have a video of this when it becomes available.
