‘Saturday Night Live’ re-watch: Anne Hathaway hosts, Mokiki is still hilarious

Saturday Night LiveFor those of you who did not catch it the first time around back in November, “Saturday Night Live” is going to be re-airing their broadcast featuring Anne Hathaway as host this weekend; and just in case you are wondering whether or not you should check the show out, here are a pair of sketches that may make it worthwhile (though you can also watch videos for them over at the link here, which also happens to be our full review for the episode):

1. Mokiki does the sloppy swish – There may not be a video that we have watched more of all season long than this one, which features a perfect song performed by Kenan Thompson to go along with Taran Killam perfectly playing this silent character who seems as though they could be someone living in New York City: a victim of an experient whose very being has devolved to just doing one ridiculous dance move over and over again across New York City.

2. The “Homeland” spoof – Any chance you get to see “SNL” send-up a TV show is generally worthwhile, and Hathaway completely goes for it in mocking Claire Danes’ character of Carrie. In some ways, the spoof goes a little bit too far … but didn’t “Homeland” season 2 do that, as well? We wish that the show did more spoofs of popular shows, as their “Game of Thrones” mock-up from last year was also biting, relevant, and funny.

Ultimately, this is a show that even in viewing a second time feels much like it did the first time around: there are a few pretty good sketches, but also some pretty bad ones that either were uninspired from the get-go, or had potential but failed to deliver. At least Rihanna gives her best vocal performance yet on the show in her fourth appearance … but sadly does not take part in any skits.

Do you want to view what our top three favorite “SNL” sketches are for this season so far? If so, all you have to do is head on over to the link here.
