America’s Got Talent: Josh Blue of Last Comic Standing returns
Clearly, the producers of AGT were also aware that Blue would be a big-time draw; after all, they chose to save him until close to the end of the show. We actually did learn a little bit about him tonight, including that he played soccer and liked to defy expectations all across the board.
At the very start of his set Blue took the opportunity to make fun of himself. Then, he made fun of other people, as well. He crammed a little bit of physical comedy in here, but still found a way to let the jokes be the star.
The biggest takeaway that we got from Blue’s act was him saying beforehand that he didn’t want to be thought of as a novelty act. He feels that it has created a stigma around him where people don’t think about the quality of his material. That’s what stood out tonight: The quality of the material. You can tell that he’s a seasoned comic who has been doing this for a long time and can anticipate reactions.
We know that there are a lot of people out there who want to somehow penalize Josh for having a career before this show, but isn’t the same thing true for a lot of other people who come on? We just think that it all comes down to the voters. If Josh makes it to the finale, it’s not because of his experience on a reality show ages ago; it’s about what he’s doing now.
