ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5 spoilers: How has Rick ‘dug his own grave’?
There are some rather tough times coming up for our title character on “Castle” season 5, at least when it comes to just what Rick is going to be up to courtesy of a visit from his ex Meredith (“Scandal” star Darby Stanchfield) in the first episode upon the show’s return January 7.
So is Castle actually going to be interested in getting back with Beckett’s mother? Far from it; however, he is going to find himself in a rather terrible position courtesy of one of his old habit in sleeping with just about every single one of his exes at one point or another. Speaking to TVLine, executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe says that this behavior (regardless of whether or not he actually wants it to happen now) is going to create all sorts of insecurities with Beckett, who will also be staying with Rick, and force her to potentially stake her territory:
“It’s every man’s worst nightmare … Castle has kind of dug his own grave and spends the episode trying to dig himself out of it. It’s also interesting to see everybody else’s take on things.”
Will things ultimately work out well for Castle and Beckett? We’re feeling rather hopeful that they will, but this will unfortunately be one additional issue that the two parties have to work through if they want to be together in the long run. The truth here is that Castle has enough baggage to fill up an airport, and he needs to make sure that his new girlfriend knows that not only is she special, but she is different than everyone else he has been with over the years.

Want to see Beckett find out that it was Castle’s ex-wife who cheated on him, not the other way around. Kate needs to know this to help her with that insecurity.
