‘The X Factor’ USA: Carly Rose Sonenclar, Fifth Harmony receive duet partners

Carly Rose SonenclairJust as we saw the finalists on “The X Factor” USA season 1 perform with some superstars in music last year, we are going to be seeing the same exact thing happen this time around with Tate Stevens, Fifth Harmony, and Carly Rose Sonenclar moving forward to the final vote being announced.

Just the announcement of the names alone are interesting, mostly because one group seems to almost have an inherent advantage in Simon Cowell’s remaining group. Why? They will be performing with Demi Lovato, and not only has Fifth Harmony sang a song from her already this season in “Give Your Heart a Break,” but they have some sort of rapport with her already thanks to her being on the judging panel.

As for the strangest choice, we have to go with LeAnn Rimes singing with Carly Rose Sonenclar. We get that maybe Simon Cowell is trying to show that Rimes started off her own career at around the same age, but she is a completely different genre of music. In addition to that, Rimes is one of the most-controversial artists out there at the moment thanks to the tabloids, and this may not help Carly Rose’s voting block at all.

Finally, Tate Stevens gets to perform with Little Big Town, which is something we really don’t have that much of an opinion about. They are at least in the right genre, but we also don’t know if they are really popular enough to bring any people who were not already giving Tate their vote.

Yes, we know technically that five singers performing with a celebrity does not really make for a “duet,” but these should at least be interesting collaborations to watch. The real thing that is interesting here is still seeing who comes across like a superstar, and who shrinks once placed against someone who is actually in the industry.
