‘Homeland’ season 2 finale spoilers: Damian Lewis says…
While “Homeland” is in the process of celebrating some of its new nominations for the 2012 Golden Globe awards, we have some more scoop coming to us courtesy of one of the show’s stars about Sunday night’s season 2 finale.
Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lewis (who is also the current reigning Emmy champ for his portrayal of soldier-turned-terrorist-turned-operative Nicholas Brody) explained that unlike the last two episodes, this hour is going to be more about the characters that we do know more so than any particular action to stop some of Abu Nazir’s former associates (who have to still be out there, given that any terrorist sect has replacements lined up in the event that the leader dies):
“I think Sunday night is going to be an incredible episode. Everyone seems extremely happy with it. I haven’t seen it yet, so I’ll be sitting down with you guys and watching it. But, you know, every season it’s difficult, isn’t it? I thought last season’s ending was incredible — and most people adored it — but there were one or two people who might have wanted something different. So hopefully we’ll be able to please most of the people. I think it will be an emotional, nuanced, character piece.”
As for the rumors that we could be seeing Brody bite the dust at the hands of Quinn, Lewis would not offer up much save for the fact that the writers could kill him off at any given time. Even though he is under contract until season seven, that really does not mean anything; it is just a commitment that he has made to the show if they want him, and there is a part of us that wonders if “Homeland” can even move forward with Brody as a character beyond this season. His life has completely fallen apart, so what is left now for him to explore?
