The CW hoping to bring real-life ‘Hunger Games’ to TV

The CW LogoSomehow, we think that this is going to be a good bit milder than it was in the movie and the book.

In what may be their latest move in a string of events designed to try to capitalize on the success of such things as vampires (“The Vampire Diaries”) and fairytales (“Beauty and the Beat”), The CW has now opted to pick up a summer reality series “The Hunt” that holds some very strong similarities to “The Hunger Games.” This show is going to feature two teams of six competing with each other in the wilderness with no food, water, or resources given to them, and they will have to use their skills for survival in order to capture one another and ultimately win the game. Actually, this sounds like “The Hunger Games” mixed with a little bit of “Survivor.”

Ironically, this is not the first time that The CW has done just about everything in their power to try and cash in on the Suzanne Collins’ novels. They have previously worked on bringing a scripted TV show entitled “The Selection” that bore some similarities of its own to the franchise to the air, but the initial pilot failed to work out and it has been back in development ever since. The ordering of this reality show, as a matter of fact, could signal an end to that project.

Meanwhile, the network has also picked up a new game show in “Perfect Score,” where contestants can win both a date and cash for themselves if they are able to guess the person out of a group of contestants that is ultimately right for them.
