‘NCIS’ season 10 spoilers: Meet a young Pauley Perrette

Are you ready for something new coming to us from the world of “NCIS”? Let’s hope so, since this is regarding what may be one of the most-exciting episodes that we have seen in some time. (Of course, the story is being held back until the pivotal November sweeps.)

According to a new report from TVLine, actress Brighton Sharbino, who is best known for a recent guest star on the NBC comedy series “The New Normal,” is set to appear as Abby … back when she was age ten. This episode will feature flashbacks to better show the sort of person that Pauley Perrette’s character was when she was a child; and with that in mind, hopefully we will have a better understanding of the person she is today.

In speaking about the idea behind this episode, executive producer Gary Glasberg had the following to say to the website:

“What kind of origin story could we do with Abby that would be a little different? And rather than look back at her first days of working at NCIS, I was more interested in, ‘When did Abby first start develop an interest in forensics? And in people? In bodies, and in clues, things like that?’ So we decided to go way back.”

In preparation for the part on TV’s most-watched show, Glasberg says that Sharbino spent an extended period of time on set just studying how Perrette plays Abby, including many of her mannerisms. Sometimes, these sort of “child flashback” episodes can just come across as tired and unnecessary, but given the amount of effort that the show is putting into this, we are hopeful that this will be something special.
