‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4 spoilers: Boss talks Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev

Vampire DiariesWe already know that Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev are together in real life, but when it comes to their characters on “The Vampire Diaries” season 4, we are still firmly stuck in a “will they or won’t they?” sort of scenario. At the end of Thursday night’s new episode, the needle was slightly pointing towards “wont’t they” after Damon decided that he did not want to be with her in a situation where a sire bond was keeping her from having her actions fully mirror her feelings. However, a preview for the midseason finale suggests that both he and Elena could reverse their feelings on this subject very soon.

So what does the show’s executive producer have to say about what could be coming up for the two characters? Although Julie Plec gave the following quote to E! News prior to “We’ll Always Have Bourbon Street” airing, the subject matter and the message here is still very much relevant:

“The sire bond issue will force them each to dig deep into their feelings towards each other as they try to define and defend them. This could either make them stronger than ever or tear them apart.”

We have a feeling that this these feelings are going to remain an issue until Damon finds a way to break the sire bond, but who knows how long that is going to take? First and foremost they have to figure out how it is possible to even break the bond; and then, they have to actually do it.

If you think that we are going to see Elena and Damon going to become an actual couple, how long do you think that it is going to take? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below, and once again you can watch a promo from the midseason finale here.
