ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5 spoilers: Nathan Fillion’s intense February

Nathan FillionEveryone who loves “Castle” has been waiting to see one story; and based on what we are hearing now courtesy of the show’s executive producer, it may be coming down the pipeline as early as the February sweeps. Of course, we are talking about the arrival of Rick’s father, which would give Nathan Fillion plenty to do during what would surely be an emotional two-part episode.

Speaking to TV Guide, executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe claims that he is strongly considering pushing forward with a story that would be all about Castle’s father, and that Fillion wants Harrison Ford to play the part (even though that seems at the moment a little unlikely). If this story indeed happens, we will either probably find out the man’s real-world identity either later this month or in early January.

As if this news was not exciting enough alone, we also have some scoop about another parent (in Beckett’s late mom) that should also make for an exciting sweeps episode. Jack Coleman is looking to return for another episode in February as Senator Bracken, and Stana Katic’s character is going to appropriately see this is the major opportunity to take down the man who is responsible for her life falling apart.

Finally, Marlowe also teases that at some point near the end of the season, the show may touch on the question that is the inevitable next step for Castle and Beckett: will they ever get married? Considering that Fillion has already said that he would not want to see the show last beyond six or seven seasons, the show has to start moving in that direction soon, though luckily they do still have plenty of time to piece together a story here about the couple’s happy ending. (Plus, it’s always possible that Fillion could stay around longer, given that he has not actually firmly said he has plans to leave at a given time.)

Who do you want to see as Rick’s father; that is, if this storyline happens? If you want to watch some sneak peeks from Monday night’s “Secret Santa,” you can do so over at the link here.
