‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9, episode 7 review: Is April the only pregnancy story?

Grey's Anatomy Season 9Shonda Rhimes is officially the mater of the fake-out. For just about the entirety of Thursday night’s new “Grey’s Anatomy” episode, the worry was that April and Jackson, despite using protection for all of their “encounters” over the course of the past several episodes, were expecting their first child. This led to of course a panic, but there was something else that came out of it that changed the romance between the two characters … and also made us sniffle.

Basically, Jackson was actually ready to commit to her in every was possible: with marriage, plans for their future, a house, and everything else. But then when April expressed joy over not being pregnant, he realized that maybe she did not really want everything that they had talked about back when there was a baby on the table. Are these two done? Far from it, but at some point Jackson is either going to have to lay it on the line, or April will have to learn how much she hurt him.

Sadly, there really was no such light at the end of the tunnel this week for Owen. He realized that because he signed off on the doctors taking the plane that eventually killed Mark and Lexie, there is really no escaping his involvement in the lawsuit … and the confidentiality agreement makes things all the more difficult. Basically, this led to his telling Cristina that they need to divorce; and while he clearly did not want to do it, he must have felt he had no other choice.

Derek had a little bit more hope this week courtesy of his new-found passion to try and fix up his hand, but even this stirred up a little bit of conflict courtesy of Callie, who was doing everything that she could to save him based on her own research.

The final two things we have to share this week is of the purely joyous variety, and it’s always better to end with a smile: Arizona fell down for the first time at work, but she quickly found a way to get back up. Oh, and Meredith thinks she’s pregnant, even though she is very early on. Surprise! The one pregnancy is the one you never saw coming.
