PGA Awards 2012: ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘Louie,’ ‘Shark Tank’ receive nominations

Game of Thrones On Wednesday, awards season picked up again (at least to an extent) courtesy of an awards show that does traditionally generate a little bit of attention: the Producers Guild Awards. However, it also is one that tends to mirror everything that we see from the Emmys, and is thus not exciting enough to generate just a ton of buzz. For one thing, notice that every single drama series nominated here was nominated for an Emmy in the same category, and the only change here at all from the comedy category is the addition of “30 Rock” here over “Girls” and “Veep.” (In other words, the PGA is even more stuck in the past.)

We are pleased, however, to see such gem shows as “Shark Tank” and “The Guild” getting a little bit of love in some of their respective categories. Check out the full list below:

Dexter Early Cuts: All in the Family (www.sho.com)

The Guild (www.watchtheguild.com)

H+ The Digital Series (www.youtube.com/user/HplusDigitalSeries)

Red vs. Blue (www.roosterteeth.com)

Just in case you want some other highlights here, we’re actually happy to see “The Voice” on here over any other singing competition after a pretty stellar season 3, and most of the Digital Series nominees are all pretty inspired and deserving. It’s also interesting that despite winning the Emmy Award almost every year, “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” is left out of the variety category here.

What do you think about these nominees, or are the PGA Awards something you really don’t pay much attention to? If you want to check out some more of the latest “Game of Thrones” news, you can do so over here.
