‘Two and a Half Men’ season 10: Angus T. Jones apologizes for ‘filth’ remarks

Well, this did not take too long at all. Just 24 hours after starting off a media firestorm over calling “Two and a Half Men” “filth” in a lengthy (and choppily-edited) religious testimonial published online, Angus T. Jones has now issued an apology-of-sorts to everyone who he may have offended as a result of his comments. However, it is worth noting that nowhere in here does he retract what he said about the nature of the show.

You can view the full statement from Jones over at Deadline, but here are some of the highlights where he specifically expresses gratitude to the show’s crew, cast, and the people responsible for creating the hit sitcom:

“Without qualification, I am grateful to and have the highest regard and respect for all of the wonderful people on Two and Half Men with whom I have worked over the past ten years and who have become an extension of my family … Chuck Lorre, Peter Roth and many others at Warner Bros. and CBS are responsible for what has been one of the most significant experiences in my life to date.  I thank them for the opportunity they have given and continue to give me and the help and guidance I have and expect to continue to receive from them.

“I also want all of the crew and cast on our show to know how much I personally care for them and appreciate their support, guidance and love over the years … I apologize if my remarks reflect me showing indifference to and disrespect of my colleagues and a lack of appreciation of the extraordinary opportunity of which I have been blessed.  I never intended that.”

With this apology, Jones is obviously hoping to repair enough damage with CBS and Warner Bros. in order to keep his job on the show, in which he reportedly receives $350,000 an episode for his portrayal of Jake Harper. Lorre and Roth do have plenty of time to think about this issue, primarily since the actor is not due back on the set until the new year.

What do you think about Jones apology, and do you think it is sufficient considering his actions?
